Our Approach

To understand the early life origins of chronic lung diseases we created four working groups wich closely interact with each other.

Working Group 1 "Infant lung development" aims to identify early risk environmental risk factors for impaired lung development.

Working Group 2 "Lung Morphogenesis" elucidates molecular biological processes important for lung development.

Working Group 3 "Developmental pathways and disease" aims to understand the reasons why and how developmental pathways are reactivated in lung diseases.

Working Group 4 "Transgenerational animal models" develops animal models to study how prenatal and early life environmental exposures shape disease risks in later life.

In addition, we make strong efforts to promote young researchers in the field by providing international crossdisciplinary Training Schools and facilitate stays for short-term collaborative projects in affiliated research institutions across Europe.
